Department Overview

The Information Technology department operates as a cohesive unit, integrating various teams to provide top-notch technological solutions. This role is situated within the Advanced Applications Operations Team, leveraging cutting-edge technology to enhance daily operations.

Position Summary

The Compliance Specialist ensures adherence to legal standards and internal policies throughout the organization. This role is vital for maintaining the company's integrity and reputation while mitigating risks associated with potential fines or legal challenges. Ideal candidates will possess a strong passion for IT security and governance, aiming to play a crucial role in safeguarding the organization's systems and processes.

This position allows for a hybrid work arrangement, requiring attendance at the Oakland General Office 1-2 days a week.

Compensation

PG&E provides a salary range that reflects the company's good faith estimate for this position at the time of posting. This range is specific to the job's locality, and actual compensation will depend on various factors including skills, education, experience, and market conditions. While the successful candidate is expected to be placed between the entry and mid-range, final decisions will be made on an individual basis. This role is also eligible for PG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs.

Salary Range:

Bay Area Minimum: $109,000

Bay Area Maximum: $175,000

Key Responsibilities

  • Assessing and addressing compliance-related issues within the organization.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulations set forth by governing bodies.
  • Monitoring adherence to company policies and the Standards of Conduct.
  • Collaborating with various departments to develop and implement compliance strategies.
  • Conducting audits and reviews to pinpoint risks and execute necessary corrective measures.
  • Acting as the compliance subject matter expert, offering guidance across departments.
  • Overseeing compliance training initiatives for staff.
  • Preparing and delivering reports on compliance activities to senior management.
  • Working alongside legal counsel and other departments to manage compliance inquiries or investigations.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in IT security governance, risk management, auditing, and compliance.
  • Proven leadership abilities with a capacity to mentor team members.

  • Exceptional communication skills to articulate complex IT security concepts to varied audiences.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and foster collaboration among departments.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making capabilities.

Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements such as SOX, HIPAA, and California Privacy.
  • In-depth understanding of regulatory standards affecting the utility sector.
  • Capability to establish control objectives based on intricate regulatory demands and risk assessments.
  • Adept at identifying complex control deficiencies and associated business risks.
  • Exhibiting independent judgment in high-complexity matters.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of PG&E's critical business processes and security frameworks.
  • Recognized authority in compliance and auditing practices.
