Department Overview

Position Summary

The Compliance Specialist is responsible for ensuring adherence to legal standards and internal policies throughout the organization. This role is crucial for maintaining the integrity and reputation of the company while mitigating risks that could result in penalties or legal challenges. Ideal candidates will have a strong passion for IT security and governance, aiming to significantly contribute to the security and compliance of the organization's systems and processes.

This position offers a hybrid work environment, allowing for remote work alongside in-office collaboration.

Compensation Information

PG&E provides a salary range that reflects the company's good faith belief regarding potential compensation for this role at the time of posting. This range is tailored to the job's locality. Actual salaries will be determined based on various factors, including skills, education, certifications, experience, market conditions, geographic location, and internal equity. While the anticipated salary for the successful candidate is expected to fall between the entry-level and mid-range, final decisions will be made on an individual basis. This position is also eligible for participation in PG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs.

Salary Range:

Bay Area Minimum: $109,000

Bay Area Maximum: $175,000

Key Responsibilities

  • Assessing and addressing compliance-related issues within the organization.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulations set forth by governing bodies.
  • Verifying adherence to company policies and standards of conduct.
  • Collaborating with various departments to implement compliance initiatives.
  • Conducting regular audits to identify risks and recommend corrective measures.
  • Acting as a subject matter expert on compliance, offering guidance across departments.
  • Overseeing compliance training programs for staff.
  • Preparing and delivering compliance reports to senior management.
  • Working with legal teams to manage compliance inquiries and investigations.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of proven experience in IT security governance, risk management, audit, and compliance.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to mentor team members.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exceptional communication skills to articulate complex IT security concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and collaborate effectively.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (MA/MBA) in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements such as SOX, HIPAA, and California Privacy laws.
  • In-depth understanding of regulatory impacts on the utility sector.
  • Ability to establish control objectives based on complex regulations and risk assessments.
  • Skill in identifying control gaps and associated business risks.
  • Independent judgment in complex matters.
  • Solid understanding of PG&E's critical business processes and security protocols.
  • Recognized authority in compliance and auditing.
  • Strong decision-making capabilities.
