Department Overview

The Information Technology department is a cohesive unit made up of various sectors that work collaboratively to provide top-notch technological solutions. This role is situated within the Advanced Applications Operations Team, which leverages cutting-edge technology to enhance daily operations.

Position Summary

The Compliance Specialist is responsible for ensuring that the organization adheres to legal standards and internal policies throughout its operations. This role is crucial for maintaining the integrity and reputation of the company while mitigating risks that could result in penalties, legal complications, or damage to the organization's reputation. This position is suited for individuals who are dedicated to IT security and governance and are eager to contribute significantly to the security and compliance of the organization’s systems and processes.

This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, allowing for remote work combined with in-office presence.

Compensation

PG&E is committed to providing a salary range that reflects the company's good faith belief regarding compensation for this position at the time of posting. The actual salary will depend on various factors, including specific skills, education, certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. While we anticipate that the successful candidate will be placed between the entry point and the midpoint of the range, decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis. This role is also eligible for participation in PG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs.

Salary Range:

Bay Area Minimum: $109,000

Bay Area Maximum: $175,000

Key Responsibilities

  • Assessing and addressing compliance issues and concerns within the organization.
  • Ensuring adherence to regulatory agency rules and regulations by the company and its personnel.
  • Monitoring compliance with internal policies and ensuring organizational behavior aligns with the company's Standards of Conduct.
  • Collaborating with various departments to execute compliance strategies.
  • Conducting regular audits and assessments to pinpoint risk areas and implement necessary corrective measures.
  • Acting as the subject matter expert on compliance, offering guidance and support across all departments.
  • Overseeing and managing compliance training initiatives for staff.
  • Preparing and delivering reports on compliance activities and issues to senior management.
  • Working alongside legal counsel and other departments to handle compliance-related inquiries or investigations.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of proven experience in IT security governance, risk management, auditing, and compliance.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with a talent for mentoring and guiding team members.

  • Exceptional communication skills to effectively articulate complex IT security concepts to varied audiences.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and work collaboratively with diverse departments.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities.

Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree or MBA in Computer Science, Information Systems/Technology, Communications, Social Sciences, Education, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements such as SOX, HIPAA, California Privacy, FCC, FERC, NERC CIP.
  • Comprehensive understanding of regulatory requirements affecting the utility sector (SOX, HIPAA, NERC CIP, Smart Meter/Smart Grid, etc.) with expert knowledge in one or more areas.
  • Adept at establishing control objectives based on intricate regulatory requirements, company policies, standards, guidelines, and risk assessments.
  • Capable of identifying complex control deficiencies and associated business risks.
  • Exhibiting independent judgment and discretion in significant matters of high complexity.
  • Solid grasp of PG&E's critical business processes, applications, system and network security, Operational Data Network (ODN), and Utility Data Network (UDN).
  • Recognized as a key technical resource and authority on compliance and auditing.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively convey complex IT security concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and collaborate effectively with various departments.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
