We are currently seeking an
Animal Care Technician I to join our
Insourcing Solutions team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the well-being of our research animals.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily health and welfare assessments of animals, performing husbandry tasks to maintain the quality and health of research subjects. This includes checking water bottles and cages, providing appropriate food and hydration, and performing cage changes and cleaning as needed. Document any health concerns in accordance with standard operating procedures and specified protocols. Carry out cage washing and sanitation duties. Maintain accurate records of room logs, health case logs, animal breeding, and support areas as required by the facility.
  • Perform rodent handling and technical procedures as directed by the on-site Supervisor or facility veterinarian, including health case treatments, identification, genotyping, health surveillance sampling, and euthanasia.
  • Receive, inspect, and organize incoming animal shipments and supplies. Operate equipment and utilize supplies in compliance with established guidelines. Maintain cleanliness and adhere to safety protocols.
  • May assist with study support on non-invasive techniques, including but not limited to animal fasting, body weight monitoring, food and water measurements, mating observations, and plug checks. Undertake additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
The following are minimum requirements for the Animal Care Technician I position:

  • A high school diploma, General Education Degree (G.E.D.), or equivalent is required. A Bachelor's degree in an animal or life sciences field is preferred. A minimum of one year of relevant laboratory animal experience is preferred. AALAS certification at the ALAT level or CALAS certification is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

The compensation for this position ranges from $20 to $24 per hour. Please note that salaries may vary within this range based on factors such as experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.


Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 7 AM to 3:30 PM, with rotating weekends and holidays as necessary.
