We are in search of an Animal Care Technician I to become a part of our Insourcing Solutions team.

As an Animal Care Technician I, your responsibilities will include ensuring the well-being of our research animals. Specific duties encompass:

  • Conducting daily health and welfare assessments of animals.
  • Performing husbandry tasks to uphold the quality and health of research animals, including daily checks of water supplies and cages, providing appropriate nutrition, and maintaining cleanliness.
  • Executing cage washing and sanitation tasks.
  • Keeping precise records of room logs, health case logs, and breeding information as mandated by institutional and facility protocols.
  • Handling rodent restraint and technical manipulations as directed by supervisors or veterinarians, including health treatments and sampling.
  • Receiving and inspecting incoming animal shipments and supplies.
  • Operating equipment and utilizing supplies in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and adhering to safety protocols.
  • Assisting with non-invasive study support tasks, such as monitoring fasting, body weight, and other relevant measurements.
  • Carrying out additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The following qualifications are essential for the Animal Care Technician I role:

  • A high school diploma, General Education Degree (G.E.D.), or equivalent is required. A Bachelor's degree in animal or life sciences is preferred.
  • At least one year of relevant laboratory animal experience is preferred.
  • AALAS certification at the ALAT level or CALAS certification is preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered as a satisfactory substitute for the specified requirements.

The compensation for this position ranges from $20 to $24 per hour, depending on various factors such as experience, skills, education, certifications, and location. The schedule typically includes weekdays with rotating weekends and holidays as necessary.
