We are seeking to recruit a skilled animal care technician to deliver compassionate patient support and foster positive experiences for our clients. The role involves providing essential nursing care, assessing patients, coordinating their treatment, and administering care before and after surgical procedures. Responsibilities include monitoring vital signs, performing blood draws, and delivering intramuscular (IM), intravenous (IV), and subcutaneous (SQ) injections. You will engage with clients to discuss treatment options and medical conditions, systematically track patient diagnostics, and communicate effectively with both clients and veterinarians regarding the needs of our patients.
To excel in this role, you should be detail-oriented and compassionate, ensuring that our patients receive the highest standard of care. Ideal candidates are motivated, empathetic, and possess strong attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assessing patients by taking vital signs and gathering medical history and other relevant information from clients;
- Assisting in diagnostic procedures;
- Discussing treatment plans, cost estimates, and payment options with clients;
- Collecting blood samples from various sites;
- Inserting IV catheters and monitoring anesthesia, ventilators, and fluid therapy;
- Operating sterilization equipment;
- Processing specimens in the in-house laboratory and coordinating with external laboratories;
- Calculating medication dosages and providing clear dosage instructions to clients;
- Maintaining accurate patient records and entering service charges into the database;
- Explaining care instructions to clients and providing educational resources.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as an animal care technician
- Proficient in computer applications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong passion for animal welfare
- Exceptional interpersonal skills
- Able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Team-oriented mindset
- Availability on weekends.
