Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of St Paul and Minneapolis is seeking a committed individual for the role of Housing Intake Specialist.

Location: Higher Ground St. Paul

The mission of Catholic Charities is to assist those in greatest need and advocate for social justice within the community.

As the demand for our services continues to rise and evolve, Catholic Charities is committed to adapting our approach. We focus on three primary areas: preventing poverty, addressing immediate needs during crises, and facilitating pathways out of poverty.

COMPENSATION: $22.50 – $26.30 per hour

ROLE SUMMARY: We are looking for a compassionate, trauma-informed, and culturally competent individual to serve as a Housing Intake Specialist at our Higher Ground St. Paul location.

This role involves close collaboration with Property Management to ensure timely occupancy of available units. The Housing Intake Specialist will oversee the application and residential processes, ensuring accuracy in residential data. Responsibilities include scheduling and coordinating orientations for new residents, assisting with move-in and move-out procedures, and following up with clients regarding their residential experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with Coordinated Entry to secure referrals for all vacant units.
  • Arrange appointments and conduct apartment showings.
  • Guide applicants through the application process, ensuring all forms are completed accurately and verifying eligibility.
  • Conduct criminal background checks for applicants and promptly notify those who are not accepted.
  • Submit completed applications to the property manager for approval.
  • Prepare tenant files, ensuring all necessary documentation is included.
  • Inspect units prior to move-in and facilitate orientation for new residents.
  • Assist with move-in and move-out inspections and procedures.
  • Complete recertifications as mandated by the program.
  • Input client information into various databases in compliance with program requirements.
  • Follow up with clients to assess their successes and challenges.
  • Collaborate with other Housing Intake staff and Navigators to uphold best practices for client success.
  • Ensure accurate reporting of data.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in human services or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in housing program management or development.
  • Proficiency in Yardi, Credible, and Sharepoint is essential.
  • Expertise in finance/billing practices, client record management, and data analysis systems.
  • Ability to engage with diverse and/or low-income populations, including individuals experiencing homelessness, unstable housing, or mental health challenges.

EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: Regular; Full-Time; Hourly; Non-Exempt

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • CPR Certification: Not required
  • Driving: Required
  • Operating specialized machinery: Not required
  • Walking or standing for more than 2 hours per shift: Not required
  • Lifting up to 25lbs without assistance: Not required
  • Lifting up to 50lbs without assistance: Not required
  • Physically restraining clients: Not required
