Position: Housing Intake Specialist

COMPENSATION: $22.50 – $26.30 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY: Catholic Charities is in search of a caring, trauma-informed, and culturally competent individual to serve as a Housing Intake Specialist at our Higher Ground St. Paul site.

This role involves close collaboration with Property Management to ensure timely occupancy of available units. The specialist will oversee the application and residential processes, ensuring accuracy in residential data. Responsibilities include scheduling and coordinating orientations for new residents, assisting with move-in and move-out procedures, and following up with clients regarding their residential experiences.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with Coordinated Entry to secure referrals for all vacant units.
  • Arrange appointments and conduct apartment showings.
  • Guide applicants through the application process, ensuring all forms are accurately completed and verifying eligibility.
  • Perform criminal background checks for applicants and promptly notify rejected candidates in writing.
  • Submit completed applications to the property manager for approval.
  • Prepare tenant files to include all necessary documentation.
  • Inspect units prior to move-in and conduct orientations for new residents.
  • Assist with move-in and move-out processes, including unit inspections.
  • Complete recertifications as mandated by the program.
  • Input client information into various databases in accordance with program requirements.
  • Follow up with clients to assess successes and challenges.
  • Coordinate and mentor with other Housing Intake staff and Navigators to uphold best practices for client success.
  • Ensure accurate reporting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in human services or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in housing program management or development.
  • High proficiency in Yardi, Credible, and Sharepoint.
  • Expertise in best practices related to finance/billing, client record management, and data analysis systems.
  • Ability to engage with diverse and/or low-income populations, including individuals experiencing homelessness, unstable housing, or mental health challenges.
