Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Water Plant Operator to join our team at Nucor Corporation. As a Water Plant Operator, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our water treatment plant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety First: You will be responsible for maintaining a safe working environment by adhering to company and OSHA safety procedures, attending safety meetings, and participating in safety programs.
  • Equipment Maintenance: You will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining the proper functioning of conveyors, water lines, and other equipment, including performing preventative maintenance and lubricating and measuring wear.
  • Technical Support: You will provide technical support by monitoring production equipment, making adjustments to feed and discharge rates, and troubleshooting issues.
  • Inspections and Reporting: You will conduct regular inspections of the plant to detect malfunctions and report them to the supervisor.
  • Grounds Maintenance: You will be responsible for keeping the grounds clear of debris while maintaining safety standards.
  • Building Maintenance: You will perform interior and exterior building maintenance, housekeeping chores, and ground maintenance, including sweeping, shoveling, and general clean-up.
  • Communication: You will effectively communicate with teammates over radio for traffic coordination, production, and safety procedures.
Requirements
  • Travel: You will be required to travel to Tampa for temporary training, and we will reimburse travel expenses.
  • Work Environment: You will work in a fast-paced, non-stop outdoor environment while providing excellent customer service.
  • Experience: You will have a minimum of 1 year of previous general labor experience in heavy manufacturing environments and warehouses, preferably in the scrap metal or construction industries.
  • Physical Demands: You will be able to work standing or walking for up to 12 hours per day.
  • Adaptability: You will be able to adapt to frequent changes of priority and complete job tasks safely and effectively without constant supervision.
  • Attendance: You will be able to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
  • Skills: You will have the ability to operate a forklift and be flexible to work overtime, off-hours, weekends, and holidays in an industrial/warehouse environment.
  • Language: Bilingual skills are preferred.
