The Position
Plant Operator - Mineral Processing Specialist
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and coordinate the activities of laborers, forklift operators, and assistant plant operators to ensure maximum production and efficiency.
- Monitor and troubleshoot operating equipment to prevent downtime and ensure smooth plant operations.
- Unload and assist with unloading of rail cars, ensuring timely and safe delivery of materials.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify process deviations and implement corrective actions.
- Perform preventative and routine maintenance tasks to ensure equipment is in good working condition.
- Train and supervise employees to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
- Participate in the interview process for potential new employees and conduct performance evaluations.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of shift paperwork, including bill of ladings and other required documents.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; one year of experience as a perlite expander plant operator or two years in a similar plant operator position.
- Valid Florida driver's license required.
- Ability to lift and stack objects up to 50 pounds occasionally and frequently exert 10 to 20 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects.
- Ability to work in an indoor/outdoor environment with exposure to weather extremes.
- Ability to perceive the nature of sound, utilize near and far vision, depth perception, provide oral information, and possess the manual dexterity to handle and work with various materials and objects.
The Plant Operator - Mineral Processing Specialist will work a base schedule of 12-hour shifts, 3 days one week and 4 days the next week, with a 30-minute unpaid meal break. The employee will be expected to be on call nights and weekends to assist with facility or plant emergencies and/or customer delivery requirements.
