Position Overview
The Student Affairs Administrator plays a crucial role in providing leadership and administrative oversight in managing student conduct and behavior, aimed at cultivating a constructive school environment that encourages student development and success.

Key Responsibilities
The administrator's duties encompass:

  • Overseeing a specific grade level and addressing student behavioral issues while supporting educators in implementing foundational behavioral management strategies.
  • Leading a team dedicated to student support, focusing on the execution of the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) framework.
  • Ensuring compliance with special education regulations and assisting staff in applying tier-one behavioral management techniques.
  • Establishing a comprehensive Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework that promotes responsible student behavior and citizenship.
  • Fostering a positive school climate and encouraging parental and community engagement.

Collaboration and Leadership
The Student Affairs Administrator is a vital member of the school's leadership team, collaborating with various stakeholders, including fellow administrators, community members, and district administration.

Qualifications
Education: A Master's degree is mandatory.
Certificates & Licenses: A valid Virginia Department of Education license is required, along with an Administration and Supervision endorsement.
Experience: A minimum of five years of experience in K-12 education, preferably in middle or high school settings, with demonstrated skills in managing student behavior and developing school-wide behavioral programs.

Essential Functions
The administrator will:

  • Work with the administrative team to implement data-driven interventions that address students' behavioral, social-emotional, attendance, and academic needs.
  • Promote student achievement by analyzing data and collaborating with all relevant parties.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with students and oversee the execution of individualized student support plans, ensuring effective communication with parents and guardians.
  • Address behavioral management challenges and encourage positive conduct through PBIS initiatives, including counseling and mentoring.
  • Coordinate student disciplinary actions and provide follow-up communications regarding attendance and behavior issues.
  • Utilize data to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and develop strategies to enhance student conduct.
  • Serve as a liaison between the school and external stakeholders, including parents and community organizations, to communicate updates on student behavior policies.
  • Assist in identifying alternative education programs and facilitate student transitions as necessary.
  • Support teachers and counselors in establishing student expectations and behavior contracts.
  • Maintain awareness of students receiving specialized services to effectively participate in relevant meetings.
  • Ensure timely reporting and maintain confidentiality regarding student information.
  • Foster positive relationships with staff, students, parents, and the community.
  • Set high standards for student behavior and ethical conduct, contributing to the student handbook and related materials.
  • Collaborate with security personnel to ensure student safety and timely transitions between classes.
  • Engage in ongoing training related to school safety and implement relevant training for staff.
  • Manage daily operational tasks related to school safety, including emergency drills and supervision during school activities.
  • Conduct regular walkthroughs to maintain a visible presence and promote a safe and orderly environment.
  • Lead initiatives aimed at creating a positive learning atmosphere through programs like Restorative Practices and PBIS.
  • Identify and address attendance and disciplinary issues in collaboration with counselors and social workers.

Clearances:
Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
Tuberculosis Skin Test.
Public Health Compliance.
Adherence to safety and health protocols is required.
