Key Responsibilities- Program Development and Coordination
- Develop and implement programs to improve the academic achievement of underrepresented students.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and stakeholders to design interventions and support systems.
- Work with division and school staff to assess and provide data-based decision-making regarding the division-wide achievement gap.
- Support classroom teachers and administrators with research-based interventions to close the academic achievement gap.
- Monitor and encourage the inclusion of diversity and social justice issues in the PK-12 curriculum and instructional resources.
- Data Analysis and Reporting
- Collect and analyze data on student performance, attendance, and other relevant metrics to identify achievement gaps and assess program effectiveness.
- Monitor academic and behavioral data of underrepresented students to increase positive learning behaviors and ensure student achievement.
- Prepare detailed reports on student achievement, program outcomes, and progress toward closing the achievement gap for division and school leadership.
- Collaboration and Capacity Building
- Work closely with school principals, teachers, and counselors to create a collaborative approach to addressing the needs of underrepresented students.
- Facilitate regular meetings with division and school staff to discuss progress, share best practices, and develop action plans for continuous improvement.
- Family and Community Engagement
- Develop and implement strategies to engage parents and families of underrepresented students, providing them with resources and support to enhance their children's academic success.
- Organize workshops, information sessions, and communication channels to keep parents informed and involved in their children's education.
- Monitoring and Evaluation
- Establish and maintain systems for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of programs and initiatives designed to support underrepresented students.
- Adjust strategies and interventions based on evaluation results and feedback from division and school staff, and parents.
- Advocacy and Policy Development
- Advise on policies and programs to ensure that all students, especially students in underrepresented populations, have access to learn and thrive in an emotionally and physically safe learning environment.
- Advocate for policies and practices that promote equity and inclusion within the school.
- Master's degree in a related field such as education, counseling, social work, psychology, academic achievement, or urban education.
- A valid Virginia Department of Education license or eligibility to obtain one.
- Minimum of five years of job-related or teaching experience preferred in education, program coordination, or a related area, with a focus on working with underachieving populations.
