Position Overview

This position is essential in managing a specific grade level and addressing behavioral issues while supporting educators in implementing effective behavioral management strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the administrative team to manage a designated grade level, utilizing data-driven interventions to address behavioral, social-emotional, attendance, and academic challenges.
  • Facilitate student achievement by analyzing performance data and working closely with all stakeholders.
  • In partnership with the Student Support Team, build positive relationships with students and ensure the effective implementation of support plans, maintaining clear communication with parents and guardians.
  • Address student behavioral issues and promote positive conduct through initiatives such as Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
  • Oversee disciplinary actions, including student suspensions, and ensure follow-up communications with relevant parties regarding attendance and behavior.
  • Track and report on student behavior metrics, utilizing data to evaluate the success of interventions.
  • Develop and implement programs aimed at promoting responsible student behavior, including peer mediation and restorative practices.
  • Act as a liaison between the school, parents, community organizations, and law enforcement, providing updates on behavior policies.
  • Assist in identifying alternative education programs and support student transitions as necessary.
  • Support teachers and counselors in establishing student expectations and behavior contracts.
  • Maintain awareness of students receiving specialized services and participate in relevant meetings.
  • Ensure timely reporting of all relevant information while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Foster positive relationships with staff, students, parents, and the community.
  • Establish high standards for student behavior and ethical conduct, contributing to the student handbook and related publications.
  • Work with security personnel to ensure student safety and timely transitions between classes.
  • Participate in advanced training related to school safety and disseminate knowledge to staff.
  • Manage daily school operations, including safety drills and event supervision.
  • Provide oversight to security staff and maintain a visible presence throughout the school.
  • Collaborate with administrators to develop programs that promote a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Identify and address attendance and disciplinary issues in coordination with counselors and parents.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to ensure the effective functioning of the school.

Qualifications

  • Valid Virginia Department of Education license or eligibility to obtain one, with an Administration and Supervision endorsement.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in K-12 education, preferably in middle or high school settings.
  • Proven ability to manage student behavior and implement school-wide behavior management programs.

Clearances

  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
  • Tuberculosis Skin Test.

Public Health Compliance

  • Adherence to safety and health protocols is required.
