Job Description

Position Overview:

Dakota Funds Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Business Development and Marketing professional to lead the company's business development and marketing efforts. The ideal candidate will be a self-directed and organized individual who can contribute meaningfully to the company's growth and success.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Identify New Business Opportunities: Develop and implement strategies to identify new business opportunities and actively engage various channels for business growth in separate accounts, mutual funds, and platforms.
  2. Manage Campaign Messaging: Refine and manage campaign messaging to effectively communicate the company's philosophy and products through various channels, including the website, outgoing correspondence, presentation materials, and press releases.
  3. Plan Sales and Marketing Meetings: Plan and lead regular sales and marketing meetings to drive new business opportunities, relationship development, and expanding marketing messaging.
  4. Operate as Lead for Direct Sales Campaigns: Serve as the lead for direct sales campaigns and as the first point of contact for new business inquiries.
  5. Oversee Product and Brand Messaging: Oversee product and brand messaging to ensure that the company's investment approach and product positioning are accurately communicated in client materials, questionnaires, RFPs, and in databases.
  6. Participate in Industry Conferences: Participate in relevant industry conferences and successfully communicate the company's investment approach and products through one-on-one relationship development and speaking engagements.
  7. Track Sales and Pipeline Reports: Track sales and pipeline reports and manage the company's CRM database.
  8. Manage Relationships with Vendors: Manage relationships with relevant technology and marketing vendors.
  9. Oversee Due Diligence Requests: Oversee the completion of due diligence requests and RFPs/RFIs, ensuring that company messaging is effectively presented and communicated.
  10. Maintain Critical Documents: Maintain critical documents and support in various aspects of compliance documentation per industry policies and requirements.
  11. Assume Special Project Work: Assume special project work and additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Experience: 7-10 years of experience as a marketing professional in the investment management or capital markets industry.
  2. Education: Bachelor's degree is required.
  3. Professional Certifications: Series 6 or 7 and Series 63 and/or 65 required.
  4. Industry Knowledge: Familiarity and comfort operating within multiple business channels: separate accounts, mutual funds, and SMA/UMA managed accounts.
  5. Business Development Experience: Demonstrable experience generating new business.
  6. Marketing Experience: Experience managing media content and developing effective campaign messaging in materials such as pitchbooks, product brochures, fact sheets, and websites.
  7. Project Management Experience: Proven experience with planning and executing marketing plans that resulted in growing mutual fund assets and expanding client base.
  8. Industry Relationships: Established relationships within the consultant community.
  9. Communication Skills: Driven to generate leads and demonstrate the persistence and enthusiasm to pursue new business opportunities.
  10. Technical Skills: Working understanding of databases and effective means by which to present firm data and messaging.
  11. Public Speaking Experience: Experience with industry conferences and public speaking.
  12. Project Management Skills: Adept at Project Management with the ability to manage tasks and see projects to completion within a set timeframe.

  2. Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the investment industry and maintains current and relevant knowledge of product positioning versus competitors.
  3. Business Judgment and Professionalism: Demonstrates sound business judgment and professionalism and is results-driven.
  4. Written Communication Skills: Strong written communication skills with the ability to develop product and firm messaging.
  5. Verbal Communication Skills: Effective and professional verbal communication skills with a high comfort level for networking and sales.
  6. Attention to Detail: Demonstrates great follow-through and is detail-oriented.
  7. Technical Skills: Strong skills in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, and Word) and experience with CRM systems.
  8. Desire to Work in a Boutique Firm: Desire to work in a boutique firm with a collaborative work environment.

Position Specifics:

This is a hybrid work schedule position that offers flexibility and work-life balance. Travel is a component of this role in order to directly develop relationships and attend industry conferences.
