At Staples, we are a leading business-to-business company that connects businesses with the products and services they need to succeed. As a Business Development Director, you will play a critical role in driving sales growth and expanding our customer base.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, building relationships with key decision-makers, and developing and executing sales strategies to drive revenue growth.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Pursue targeted Fortune 1000 and Global 500 companies within the designated geographical area, consuming 90% of your time.
  • Establish and nurture direct connections with potential strategic accounts.
  • Create and manage a targeted list of strategic accounts for Staples.
  • Collaborate effectively with Staples Advantage, Staples Retail, Staples Promotional Products Global offices, and HQ departments, to respond to various proposals and secure contracts within the promotional products category.
  • Develop and deliver presentations to potential accounts.
  • Implement sales strategies to transition prospects into active opportunities while positioning Staples as the preferred solution for decision-makers in Marketing, Brand, and Procurement departments.
  • Prepare for engaging with prospects through comprehensive research, showcasing an understanding of their industries and the challenges they face.

**Requirements:**

  • Ability to create a clear and strategic sales vision and effectively communicate it.
  • Proven success in business development with Fortune 500 companies.
  • Demonstrated skills in developing sales, management strategies, setting targets, and designing growth plans.
  • Expertise in consultative/strategic selling, capable of engaging with customers at senior levels.
  • Adept at conveying the value propositions of other lines of business to customers.
  • Strong analytical, motivational, multitasking skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation abilities.
  • Interpersonal, customer relations, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Solid business, financial, operations, and technology acumen.
  • Proven team-building capabilities, leadership, and results-driven management.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Windows applications and Staples solutions.

**Basic Qualifications:**


Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience leading to a sales management role in a comparable or larger organization.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in English and French (oral and written) is beneficial but not mandatory.
