Non-Credit Adjunct Instructors are tasked with delivering instruction, guidance, evaluation, and mentorship to non-credit students. Instructors are expected to actively engage in the mission and community of the institution. The primary focus will be on teaching, collaborating with non-credit program participants in various settings including classrooms, workshops, and online platforms to foster learners' interests and capabilities.

Teaching Responsibilities: This Non-Credit Adjunct Instructor role is part-time and contracted on a course-by-course basis, not exceeding 1500 contracted hours annually. Contracts may encompass a blend of teaching hours, preparation activities, curriculum development, student advising, and assessment of assignments. Teaching schedules may vary, including day, evening, weekend, and online classes based on course requirements and instructor availability.

Workforce development programs emphasize the attainment of industry-recognized credentials and skill enhancement. While teaching experience is beneficial, it is not mandatory. Professional experience and relevant certifications are essential. Our learners expect to gain insights from experienced professionals who can impart their knowledge and practical experience in the field. Students may range from beginners to those seeking advanced credentials. Instruction is primarily in-person, with occasional hybrid formats as necessary. Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience: High School diploma or equivalent. Significant work experience in carpentry or the construction sector. Specialized Knowledge: Familiarity with building materials and fasteners. Understanding of construction plans and specifications. Proficiency with carpentry tools and safety practices. Knowledge of structural systems including floors, walls, and roofs. Awareness of building envelope systems such as windows, doors, and siding. Skills: Strong verbal and written communication abilities. Proven teaching and educational facilitation capabilities. Excellent interpersonal skills, adaptability, and customer service focus. Competence in computer applications. Abilities: Capacity to evaluate learner performance and provide constructive feedback. Ability to align educational outcomes with course objectives. Skill in addressing the needs of diverse student populations. Proficiency in organizing instruction to optimize student learning. Capability to manage a class of 12, incorporating hands-on work, lectures, and labs. Ability to encourage critical thinking and problem-solving among learners. Commitment to maintaining educational quality standards. Ability to keep accurate educational records. Flexibility to adapt to local and national educational trends. Proficiency in using email, word processing, and spreadsheet software. Preferred Qualifications:

NCCER Carpentry Certification Previous teaching or training experience in a community or technical college environment.
