Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Commercial Lending Specialist plays a crucial role in the solicitation, negotiation, underwriting, and coordination of the closing processes for various types of loans, including commercial, residential, equipment, SBA, and business loans. This position ensures compliance with the Bank's lending policies and fosters strong relationships with clients, promoting the Bank's services effectively.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Engages in proactive business development and solicitation of new clients, fostering a positive sales atmosphere through comprehensive education on the Bank's offerings.
  • Conducts interviews with potential borrowers, gathering necessary information for loan applications and addressing any inquiries to clarify application details.
  • Performs thorough assessments of financial conditions and risks associated with financing requests, aligning with the Bank's credit culture and market trends.
  • Collects and evaluates all pertinent information to present financing requests to senior management or the Loan Committee for approval; interacts with clients and visits loan sites as needed.
  • Assists in the processing of approved loans, ensuring adherence to agreements and customer requirements while conforming to the Bank's lending policies.
  • Conducts credit inquiries and UCC filings to assess creditworthiness and collateral positioning.
  • Facilitates the negotiation, underwriting, and processing of credit facility renewals.
  • Manages loan payments, draws from lines of credit, and fund transfers within designated limits.
  • Issues commitment and engagement letters with the necessary approvals.
  • Demonstrates superior customer service, following up with clients and colleagues to ensure satisfaction and resolution of issues.
  • Applies sound decision-making techniques regarding inquiries and approvals, using these instances for employee development.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of the financial industry, economic conditions, and competitive landscape.
  • Represents the Bank at community and civic events to enhance its image and foster business growth.
  • Cross-sells additional Bank products and services, directing clients to the appropriate personnel as necessary.
  • Collaborates with legal counsel and collectors on financial workouts and charge-offs to ensure all precautionary measures are taken.
  • Utilizes computer systems to manage and process data efficiently.
  • Completes annual compliance training and adheres to all corporate policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience: A Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience is preferred. Relevant experience may include administrative roles in a business setting.

  • Intermediate understanding of banking operations, products, and services, along with applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work independently.
  • Proficient in computer operations, including word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and team members.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The role requires a professional office setting, with standard office equipment. Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and be able to perform essential functions as scheduled.
