Role Overview: Senior Vendor Management Specialist
As a Senior Vendor Management Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing and managing our Vendor Management Program. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Collaborating with various departments to assess business unit needs and develop effective sourcing strategies.
  • Engaging with suppliers, contractors, and departmental leaders regarding purchase requisitions, specifications, bids, contracts, and orders.
  • Evaluating vendor proposals and bids to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Preparing technical specifications for competitive services and products, including invitations to bid and Requests for Proposal (RFPs).
  • Reviewing existing supplier contracts to ensure consistency and efficiency in vendor relationships.
  • Conducting research and applying independent judgment for the acquisition of products and services.
  • Utilizing knowledge of relevant ordinances and contract principles during negotiations and contract administration.
  • Working with the Finance department to perform and review cost analyses.
  • Managing procurement costs to ensure long-term savings.
  • Maintaining electronic records and files that document work performed and outcomes achieved.
  • Taking on additional assignments and special projects as needed.

Qualifications for Success:
  • A Bachelor's degree is required.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in contract development, evaluation, and administration, with a strong focus on negotiation.
  • Proven experience in sourcing, procurement, and vendor lifecycle management.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information while building cross-functional partnerships.
  • Self-motivated with a track record of identifying needs and implementing improvements.
  • A collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficient in standard business applications, including Microsoft Office, with a willingness to learn new software as needed.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to execute tactical plans effectively.

Employment Details:
  • This is a full-time position.
  • Travel is not required for this role.
  • Regular duties include remaining stationary for extended periods, operating standard office equipment, and maintaining close visual acuity for data analysis and reading.
