Position Overview
The Commercial Insurance Sales Specialist is responsible for identifying, networking, and securing new business in the commercial insurance sector. This role focuses on expanding our insurance offerings through effective business development and client retention strategies. The Specialist will work closely with various departments within Truliant to build valuable referral partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducts research and prepares tailored proposals for prospective clients, presenting competitive quotes while adhering to agency protocols for acquiring new business.
- Ensures timely delivery of professional quote proposals, maintaining appropriate coverage levels for our members.
- Efficiently manages deposits, binder arrangements, and premium collections.
- Establishes servicing procedures and timelines for assigned accounts as necessary.
- Creates payment schedules for new and renewal accounts in compliance with agency guidelines.
- Aims to meet specified targets for new business acquisition and client retention.
- Performs regular service visits for assigned accounts, monitors policy renewal dates, and proactively contacts members to secure renewals.
- Provides expert risk management guidance to prospects and members.
- Maintains a focus on timeliness and detail in member interactions, collaborating with agency and company personnel to minimize errors.
- Identifies and engages potential sales prospects through various channels and referrals.
- Builds strong relationships with Truliant's Business Services, Small Business Lending, and MFC teams to enhance the member experience.
- Assists in resolving any accounting or claims issues related to produced accounts when necessary.
- Documents all significant communications with insured individuals and carriers regarding exposures and coverage.
- Develops solid partnerships with the agency's carrier associates.
- Provides expertise and support to various business units within the organization.
Additional Duties
- Assists with other projects and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Comprehensive knowledge of commercial insurance underwriting.
- Self-driven with a strong focus on achieving goals.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and proficient in time management.
- Skilled in MS Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and OneNote.
- Able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Adaptable, with the ability to reallocate resources and adjust priorities as needed.
- Committed to delivering outstanding service to Truliant's members.
Physical Requirements
- Occasional standing, walking, bending, and stooping.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and using a computer.
- Ability to lift up to 5 pounds, occasionally up to 10 pounds.
- Willingness to travel as necessary.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial insurance sales.
- NC Property & Casualty insurance license is mandatory.
