Position Overview

The Commercial Insurance Sales Specialist is responsible for identifying, networking, and securing new business in the commercial insurance sector. This role entails broadening the insurance portfolio through effective new business acquisition and retention strategies. The specialist will work closely with various departments within Truliant Federal Credit Union to create advantageous referral partnerships.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conducts research and develops proposals for prospective accounts, presents competitive quotes, and adheres to agency protocols for acquiring new business.
  • Delivers prompt and professional quote proposals, ensuring members receive appropriate coverage levels.
  • Efficiently manages deposits, binder arrangements, and premium collections.
  • Establishes servicing procedures and timelines for assigned accounts as necessary.
  • Creates payment schedules for new and renewal accounts while following agency guidelines.
  • Meets established new business and retention objectives.
  • Performs regular service visits for assigned accounts, tracks policy renewal dates, and proactively engages members to secure renewals.
  • Provides expert risk management guidance to prospects and members.
  • Maintains a focus on timeliness and precision in member interactions and collaborates with agency and company personnel to minimize errors or omissions.
  • Identifies and connects with sales prospects through various channels and referrals from Truliant employees.
  • Builds strong relationships with Truliant Business Services, Small Business Lending, and MFC teams to enhance the member experience.
  • Assists in resolving accounting or claims issues for produced accounts when necessary.
  • Documents all significant communications with insured individuals and carriers regarding exposures and coverage.
  • Develops solid partnerships with the agency's carrier associates.
  • Provides expertise and support to business units within the organization.

Additional Duties

  • Assists with other projects and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Comprehensive knowledge of commercial insurance underwriting.
  • Self-driven with a strong focus on achieving objectives.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and possesses excellent time management skills.
  • Proficient in MS Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and OneNote.
  • Able to manage multiple projects concurrently in a dynamic environment.
  • Flexible and capable of reallocating resources and priorities as needed.
  • Committed to delivering exceptional service to Truliant's members.

Physical Requirements

  • Occasional standing, walking, bending, and stooping.
  • Sitting at a desk for extended periods and engaging in computer work.
  • Ability to lift up to 5 pounds and occasionally up to 10 pounds.
  • Willingness to travel to various Truliant locations as required.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of prior experience in commercial insurance sales.
  • NC Property & Casualty insurance license is mandatory.
