Job Overview

Palo Alto Networks IT is on the lookout for a seasoned Senior IT Business Analyst to become part of our esteemed IT business analysis team. In this role, you will analyze business needs, formulate functional specifications, design technological solutions, and manage communications with stakeholders. This leadership position emphasizes the examination of cloud products and entails strategic collaboration with core product management, engineering, and DevOps teams, as well as key business stakeholders.

Alongside your advanced analytical capabilities, leadership skills, and creativity, you will cultivate partnerships with IT Software Engineers, Product Managers, Engineering, Legal, Finance, Revenue, Sales, Sales Operations, Operations, and Global Customer Support to ensure that new offerings are comprehensive and that the experience for our customers and partners is seamless. Strong leadership experience, a profound analytical background, and expertise in supporting the aforementioned business functions are essential for success in this challenging and rewarding position. This role will report to the Director of IT Product Management.

  • Requirements Gathering and Analysis:
    • Identify, analyze, and document business requirements from stakeholders using various methods such as interviews, workshops, and document reviews.
    • Conduct comprehensive analyses of business processes, workflows, and systems to pinpoint areas for enhancement and opportunities for technological solutions.
    • Convert business requirements into clear and detailed functional specifications, user stories, and use cases for IT projects.
  • Solution Design and Validation:
    • Collaborate closely with product managers, architects, developers, and other IT teams to design and validate technological solutions that fulfill business requirements and adhere to architectural standards.
  • Testing and Quality Assurance:
    • Partner with QA/QE functions to develop and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts to validate system functionality, performance, and usability against business requirements; where applicable, collaborate with QA/QE to automate test cases for regression testing.
    • Engage with stakeholders to conduct user acceptance testing (UAT) and ensure that technological solutions meet business expectations and quality standards.
    • Facilitate defect triage and resolution, working closely with development teams to address issues and ensure timely delivery of high-quality software releases.
  • Stakeholder Communication and Relationship Management:
    • Act as a liaison between business and IT teams, promoting effective communication, collaboration, and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Establish and maintain strong relationships with business partners, comprehending their needs, priorities, and challenges to effectively advocate for technological solutions that deliver business value.
    • Provide regular updates and status reports to stakeholders, project teams, and management, emphasizing progress, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Direct the development and implementation of licensing models for hardware, VM, and cloud products.
Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in leading business analysis or a related field.
  • Advanced analytical skills and a proven track record of driving analysis for new, innovative, and disruptive products.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the commercial and operational needs of hardware and cloud product offerings.
  • Extensive experience working with and guiding cross-functional teams in a high-technology environment.
  • Bachelor's Degree in business administration, computer science, engineering, or an equivalent combination of skills, training, and experience; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Advanced data analysis and visualization skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of licensing and entitlement platforms for hardware, VM, and cloud products.
  • Expert-level understanding of complex licensing arrangements and their implementation in enterprise environments.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to diverse audiences.
  • Exceptional leadership and mentoring capabilities.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Capacity to influence and drive consensus across multiple stakeholders.
  • A proactive, results-oriented attitude with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be located in the SF Bay Area to be onsite three days a week.
