Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Surgical Coordinator to join our team at Manhattan Restorative Health Sciences. As a Surgical Coordinator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our surgical services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Schedule and coordinate surgical case appointments
  • Coordinate Physician's calendar for procedures
  • Educate patients about the procedures and provide informational packets
  • Order test results and assess the patient's readiness for surgery
  • Assist patients with guidance on filing all necessary forms
  • Ensure necessary medical record information is present for the procedure including medical clearance if needed
  • Obtain authorization for all surgical procedures
  • Coordinate transportation for patients
  • Arrange post-surgical appointments with Physicians and other care teams
  • Provide information and updates in regard to patients' surgery schedules
  • Assist patients with the information necessary to pay all medical charges
  • Inform patients and any relevant third party through instructions about 'things to do' before and after surgeries
  • Maintain a daily surgery schedule and surgical log
  • Collaborate with internal and external departments for flawless execution
  • Coordinate with hospital departments when special surgical needs occur
  • Credential physicians for Ambulatory Surgery Centers and hospitals
  • File, collect, and organize pre and post-operational data for reference
  • Sort and distribute incoming and outgoing mail to all necessary parties
  • Restock supplies as per guidelines

Requirements

  • Associates degree or equivalent preferred
  • 2 years experience as a surgical coordinator or surgical administrator
  • Work experience in the health care sector that exposes the candidate to medical terminologies, diagnostic procedures, and health care billing and authorization
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet applications
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Good working ethics and ability to treat documents with confidentiality
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and take initiative
  • Bilingual (Spanish & English) applicants are encouraged to apply
