Responsibilities
* Monitor and manage surgical schedules and physician availability to optimize release time and minimize delays
* Coordinate and schedule surgeries, post-operative appointments, and related tests as ordered by the provider
* Facilitate communication and collection of fees due from patients
* Verify patient insurance eligibility and obtain necessary pre-authorization numbers
* Assist physicians with administrative tasks related to patient communication and care
* Provide feedback to management on process improvements and opportunities for utilization enhancement and patient flow efficiency
Requirements
* High School Diploma
* Approximately 2 or more years of experience in a patient-facing clinical setting
* Previous experience using computerized appointment scheduling systems (EPIC preferred) and/or electronic Medical Record (eMR) system (ideally EPIC-Care)
* Knowledge of CPT, ICD-9, and ICD-10 coding
* Working knowledge of third-party payor reimbursement - Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care, and commercial insurance
* Knowledge of medical terminology
