About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and organized Surgical Scheduling Coordinator II-Radiology to join our team at the Mount Sinai Health System. As a key member of our radiology department, you will be responsible for coordinating the scheduling of surgical procedures and ensuring the smooth flow of patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the scheduling of surgical procedures, including OR surgeries and procedures, for both adult and pediatric patients.
  • Monitor front office workflow and make adjustments to ensure optimum delivery of service.
  • Verify patient demographics and obtain pre-certification from insurance carriers for all OR surgeries and procedures.
  • Obtain patient medical clearance and resolve patient issues or answer questions regarding policies and procedures.
  • Place surgical confirmation calls 1 day in advance of scheduled surgery or procedure date and schedule post-op follow-up visits with providers.
  • Liaise between referring physicians and surgeons for the communication of clinical data and to determine O.R. scheduling, etc.
  • Train and mentor other Surgical Scheduling Coordinator(s) or less senior staff within the unit.
  • Collect and distribute appropriate paperwork to internal and external parties to coordinate the surgeries.
  • Record hospital reservation and pre-admit data in CERNER system.
Requirements
  • Associate degree preferred.
  • Certificate in Medical Technology.
  • Certificate in ICD-9.
  • Certificate in CPT coding.
  • 3 years of scheduling experience, with 2 years of experience in a clinical setting, preferably in a medical practice environment.
