Position Overview: The Mechanical Systems Testing Engineer plays a crucial role in the design, analysis, and construction of mechanical testing apparatus for the SpaceX Satellite division. This position emphasizes design and analytical skills, focusing on product innovation and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, construct, and evaluate mechanical testing apparatus, data acquisition systems, and control mechanisms for satellite testing.
  • Collaborate with the flight engineering team to establish testing requirements.
  • Conduct structural and vibration analyses utilizing Finite Element Method (FEM) and manual calculations.
  • Create detailed 3D CAD models for individual components and assemblies.
  • Develop and modify software applications for data acquisition and control systems.
  • Produce engineering drawings for part manufacturing and inspection, applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Oversee system-level assembly processes in collaboration with technicians and suppliers.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in design, engineering analysis, and construction within the industry or through academic projects.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in the design, construction, and testing of hydraulic, thermal, structural, or electromechanical systems.
  • Hands-on experience with testing methodologies and data acquisition techniques.
  • Familiarity with test instrumentation and control components such as pressure transducers, thermocouples, strain gauges, and load cells.
  • Proficiency in Siemens NX or similar 3D modeling software.
  • Programming skills for software development.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and machinery, including manual and CNC machining.

Additional Requirements:

  • Availability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.
