Position Overview:
As a Mechanical Engineer specializing in Aviation within the Starlink division, you will be responsible for the lifecycle of flight hardware, collaborating closely with senior leadership during pivotal design phases. Your contributions will play a crucial role in ushering in a new era of airborne connectivity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage integration design packages for Starlink from initial site surveys through to design, validation, and qualification.
- Oversee the design and production of Starlink Aviation hardware for aircraft installations.
- Collaborate on design criteria and drive system-level optimization.
- Conduct design analyses, including hand calculations, FEA, and CAD, in a dynamic environment.
- Iterate rapidly on designs to inform high-level system trades and guide overall product direction.
- Lead design reviews and collaborate with FAA representatives to certify components and systems.
- Create detailed production and integration drawings using GD&T and perform tolerance stack-up analyses.
- Implement design for manufacturability (DFM) principles to enhance design efficiency and reduce complexity.
- Establish a streamlined product lifecycle from supply chain to final integration, balancing cost, complexity, and quality.
- Conduct environmental and performance testing on hardware to validate designs and ensure compliance with specifications.
- Manage product delivery timelines through all stages of development and production.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering.
- Proficiency in CAD and FEA software.
- Minimum of 1 year of professional experience in mechanical or electromechanical design, analysis, testing, or manufacturing.
Preferred Skills:
- Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Over 3 years of experience in mechanical design and analysis.
- Hands-on experience with complex mechanical systems.
- Proficient in 3D CAD software (NX preferred).
- Strong understanding of GD&T principles and structural analysis of complex systems.
Additional Requirements:
- Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as necessary to meet critical milestones.
- Some travel may be required.
