Position Overview: Electrical Test and Reliability Engineer (Starlink)
As part of our commitment to innovation, SpaceX is utilizing its extensive experience in aerospace engineering to deploy Starlink, the most advanced broadband internet system available. Starlink is the largest satellite constellation globally, delivering fast and reliable internet access to millions of users.

We are responsible for the design, construction, testing, and operation of all components of the Starlink system, including thousands of satellites, consumer receivers, and the integrated software that connects everything seamlessly. As we expand our constellation, we seek exceptional engineers to join our team.

Role Responsibilities:
As an Electrical Test and Reliability Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our satellite hardware can endure the extreme conditions of space while maintaining connectivity for users worldwide. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and developing automated testing solutions for avionics and payload hardware.
  • Selecting commercial off-the-shelf components or creating custom PCBAs to assess signals, apply realistic loads, and power units under evaluation.
  • Writing automation scripts in Python to interface with units under test, testing equipment, instrumentation, and production documentation systems.
  • Providing hands-on support throughout production, satellite integration, and flight operations.
  • Collaborating closely with engineers from various disciplines, including mechanical, thermal, software, and test engineering, to deliver high-performance integrated hardware.
  • Conducting electrical bench testing and developing engineering models to replicate and address failures.
  • Driving continuous improvements in design by creating tools to analyze data collected from testing.

Team Dynamics:
Within the Starlink hardware engineering group, you will have the opportunity to work with specialized sub-teams focused on:

  • Satellite Payload: Engineering RF systems, high-speed digital communication, and power conversion hardware.
  • Satellite Bus and Avionics: Developing and testing space-hardened avionics hardware.
  • Gateways: Designing and testing electronics for a vast network of ground stations.
  • Hardware Test and Factory Automation: Validating designs from concept to production.
  • Failure Analysis: Conducting root cause analysis to enhance product quality.
  • On-Orbit Reliability: Monitoring satellite electronics in orbit and leading anomaly investigations.
  • Enterprise & Government: Delivering top-tier solutions for large-scale operations across various industries.
