Position Overview

Objective:
To provide technical expertise in the management, upkeep, and operation of SCADA systems, computerized distributed control systems, telemetry inputs, and computer systems that support field operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Possess a solid understanding of SCADA system architecture, including control, measurement, and safety mechanisms relevant to oil and gas production and pipeline operations.
  • Conduct feasibility assessments, perform site evaluations, and formulate recommendations along with cost projections for the implementation of new SCADA systems or enhancements to existing setups.
  • Stay informed about advancements in SCADA technologies, including equipment, software, regulatory requirements, and cybersecurity measures.
  • Manage vendor relationships, including reviewing quotes, selecting vendors, defining contract terms, and monitoring vendor performance.
  • Engage in SCADA Industrial Control System (ICS) evaluations and maintenance activities.
  • Implement management of change protocols for safety-related modifications to SCADA systems.
  • Document both new and existing systems and applications comprehensively.
  • Lead and coordinate the efforts of team members, both internal and external, for small to medium-scale projects.
  • Interpret and troubleshoot electrical schematics and diagrams effectively.
  • Assist IT field analysts in resolving SCADA-related issues.
  • Guide junior field system analysts through mentorship and review of their project plans and system installations.
  • Collaborate in the design, development, and administration of standards and documentation for all SCADA configuration databases, application programming, and core SCADA functionalities.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate SCADA standards.
  • Apply contemporary ICS cybersecurity principles and best practices.
  • Incorporate process safety principles and best practices into operations.
  • Design, program, and troubleshoot HMI applications, including graphical design, scripting, and database queries on platforms such as Wonderware Intouch/Archestra, Cygnet, and ClearSCADA.
  • Embody the company's core values: integrity, ownership, urgency, alignment, and innovation.
  • Support the company's vision and mission.
  • Maintain adherence to established work schedules and attendance standards.
  • Configure and sustain SCADA server infrastructure, both hardware and software.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of five years of experience in SCADA or automation, ideally within the oil and gas sector.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with personnel at all organizational levels.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities related to SCADA systems, demonstrating patience and professionalism.
  • Comprehensive understanding of SCADA systems concerning administration, programming, database management, telemetry, and PLC/RTU hardware selection.
  • Capability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and focus on detailed information in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, supervisors, and other departments.
  • Solid knowledge of desktop computing, printers, and general office software applications.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in an organized manner.
  • Aptitude for managing multiple diverse tasks with varying priorities.
  • Understanding of server hardware, virtualization, and Microsoft operating systems.
  • Proficiency in the following software applications is required:
    HMI applications: Intouch/Archestra, Cygnet, ClearSCADA, or similar.
    PLC applications: RSLogix, GE Proficy, or similar.
    Preferred proficiency with OSIsoft/PI Historian.
Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering (electrical, chemical, petroleum, mechanical), computer science, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
