Job Summary

The SCADA Analyst will be responsible for the design, development and support of Murphy's onshore Eagle Ford CygNet and XSPOC SCADA Systems. This position interacts with our Remote Operations Center (ROC), Facilities Engineering, Production Engineering, I/E and other departments to ensure field locations can be safely monitored and controlled. In addition, the position will be responsible for coordinating SCADA/ Automation projects and be a key contributor to the SCADA team.

The SCADA Analyst will work in our Houston Corporate office and may work two (2) days a week remote.

Responsibilities

  • Provide primary application and user support for CygNet and XSPOC SCADA systems.
  • Establish, maintain and follow Enterprise-wide SCADA standards as it pertains to screens, end devices setup, historical data and scripts.
  • Provide object-oriented SCADA programming support for screen development or integration with 3rd party applications.
  • Provide support for Murphy's alarm management program by responding to alarm requests efficiently and ensuring Murphy's alarm standards are followed.
  • Provide interface support of 3rd party applications such as Canary, SAP and ProCount.
  • Identify and analyze process improvement opportunities that maximize the utilization and potential of SCADA systems.
  • Collaborate with field I&E teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to field device communication.
  • Collaborate with field Measurement teams and Field Data Capture team to ensure measurement data is being accurately captured and reported for Production Accounting.
  • Timely commission new wells and equipment installed during facility upgrades by interacting with third party contractors and/or Murphy Automation teams.
  • Ensure all field data is captured via quality checks using local hmi, C&E, P&IDs and interaction with ROC and Engineering teams.
  • SCADA end device IP address management.
  • Provide support by working with IT and OT teams to perform system maintenance and windows patch management.
  • Collaborate with IT and OT teams during disaster recovery testing and/or OT Cybersecurity projects.
  • Provide necessary SCADA support to ensure ROC has 24/7 access to safely monitor and control field equipment and devices.
  • Develop and maintain ETLs and reports utilizing CygNet APIs and XSPOC tools.
  • Programming and support to maintain and/or enhance complex automation system platforms.
  • SCADA host polling engine support and maintenance.
  • Data collection and data presentation. Must be able to support data integration efforts between SCADA and other supporting systems

Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science, IT, MIS, or other technical degree
  • Minimum 5 years' experience related to Oil & Gas SCADA systems
  • Knowledge of CygNet, Ignition or Aveva System Platform SCADA systems
  • Knowledge of end devices such as Emerson ROCs, ABB Totalflows and Rod Pump Controllers.
  • Knowledge of industrial protocols such as Modbus, OPC DA, OPC UA, MQTT
  • Knowledge of communication protocols such as TCP, TCP/IP, TCP/IP Multipoint
  • Familiarity with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs) for process control systems
  • Knowledge of object-oriented programming and scripting languages such as VBScript, Python and/or C#
  • Knowledge of relational database design and experience with SQL (MySQL)
  • Knowledge of SCADA disaster recovery setup and testing
  • Knowledge of SCADA upgrades
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, PFDs and C&E
  • Ability to respond to complex or difficult inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community

Work is performed almost entirely in a controlled (i.e., inside) environment and does not typically subject the incumbent to any hazardous/extreme elements; some positions may require regularly moving or transporting items weighing up to 25 lbs. around the office for various needs.
