The Control Systems Automation Specialist is essential in the design, execution, and upkeep of automation frameworks that enhance the efficiency, dependability, and sustainability of energy generation and water/wastewater management processes.

In this role, you will collaborate with diverse teams to create advanced control systems, optimize operational processes, and ensure adherence to regulatory standards within the Energy and Water/Wastewater sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Execution:
  • Develop and deploy automation solutions for energy generation facilities, water treatment stations, and wastewater management systems.
  • Design and program PLCs, SCADA systems, DCS, and HMI for monitoring and controlling various processes in energy and water/wastewater operations.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, wiring diagrams, and system architecture.
  • System Integration:
  • Integrate automation systems with existing infrastructure and ensure compatibility with various process equipment and control platforms.
  • Collaborate with IT, operations, and maintenance teams to ensure smooth integration and reliable operation of automation systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to automation systems, minimizing downtime and ensuring continuous operations.
  • Optimization and Maintenance:
  • Monitor and analyze automation system performance, identifying opportunities for optimization and efficiency improvements.
  • Implement preventive maintenance strategies to ensure the long-term reliability of automation systems.
  • Provide technical support and training to operators and maintenance personnel on system use and best practices.
  • Project Management:
  • Lead automation projects from initial concept through to final implementation, including budget management, scheduling, and resource coordination.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including process engineers, environmental specialists, and regulatory compliance teams, to achieve project objectives.
  • Compliance and Safety:
  • Ensure that all automation solutions adhere to regulatory standards, including environmental, health, and safety regulations specific to energy and water/wastewater sectors.
  • Participate in safety assessments, risk evaluations, and compliance audits.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in automation engineering, preferably in the energy or water/wastewater industry.
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) License strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming, SCADA systems, DCS, and HMI development.
  • Strong understanding of process control, instrumentation, and industrial networking.
  • Experience in managing automation projects, including budget and schedule management.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations, such as NEC, ISA, and EPA guidelines.
