Job Summary

Avalon Hotel is seeking a highly motivated and service-driven Director of People and Culture to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for planning, leading, directing, developing, and coordinating the policies, activities, and colleagues of the People and Culture department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruitment and Talent Management: Recruit, interview, hire, and train new staff in the department, ensuring a strong and diverse team.
  • Departmental Oversight: Oversee the daily workflow of the department, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
  • Performance Management: Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations, helping employees grow and develop in their roles.
  • Discipline and Termination: Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy, maintaining a fair and respectful work environment.
Additional Duties
  • Policies and Procedures: Plan, lead, develop, coordinate, and implement policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support People and Culture compliance and strategy needs.
  • HR Programs: Administer or oversee the administration of HR programs, including compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Staffing and Recruiting: Identify staffing and recruiting needs, develop and execute best practices for hiring and talent management.
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct research and analysis of organizational trends, including review of reports and metrics from the organization's human resource information system (HRIS) or talent management system.
  • Compliance: Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review and modify policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Knowledge and Development: Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; apply this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
  • Departmental Budget: Develop and implement departmental budget.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience: At least five years of human resources management experience required.
  • Certifications: SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly preferred.
