Position Overview

The Medical Office Assistant (MOA) plays a crucial role in delivering a wide range of clinical, administrative, and coordination services to ensure efficient and high-quality patient care within the Advocate/Aurora Clinics located in Walgreens. This position is ideal for individuals with backgrounds as Patient Service Representatives (PSR), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA), or Medical Assistants (MA) seeking a more independent and engaging role. New graduates in the CNA and Medical Assistant fields are encouraged to apply.

  • Provide care to patients in local neighborhoods and communities.
  • Facilitate innovative healthcare delivery within a retail clinic environment.
  • Receive comprehensive on-the-job training.
  • Starting compensation is $21.05 per hour.

Work Schedule: Per diem / as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in clinical and administrative tasks for both remote and in-person Advanced Practice Clinicians at the Advocate/Aurora Clinics.
  • Manage the patient registration process, including documenting demographics, processing insurance and copays, and scheduling appointments in the electronic medical record system.
  • Oversee waiting room management and patient rooming procedures.
  • Conduct vital signs assessments and point-of-care testing for patients.
  • Monitor and manage inventory of clinical and office supplies.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with colleagues, Advanced Practice Clinicians, Walgreens management, and leadership to enhance patient care delivery.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and professional clinic environment.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care, understanding the principles of growth and development across the lifespan.

Qualifications

Licensure/Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification is required within 21 days of hire.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.

Experience: A minimum of one year in a clinical or customer service setting is preferred.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build rapport and maintain professional relationships with patients and team members.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including electronic medical records, typing, and navigating a Windows operating system.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Availability to work rotating weekends.
  • Willingness to travel between care sites as needed.
  • Flexible working hours.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting supplies and moving equipment.
  • Manual dexterity for operating assessment devices and entering data into electronic medical records.
