Position Overview

The Clinical Nurse Leader is accountable for overseeing patient care operations, ensuring effective workflow and scheduling within the nursing unit. This role serves as both a clinical and administrative resource, providing guidance and direction to nursing staff while fulfilling charge nurse responsibilities as designated by leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Care Coordination: Facilitate the seamless flow of patient care by managing resources and supporting clinical procedures, ensuring optimal operations within the department.
  • Direct Patient Support: Engage in the nursing process to deliver safe and high-quality care, which includes patient assessments, care plan development, and outcome evaluations.
  • Team Communication: Enhance collaboration among the patient care team by addressing service complaints and fostering communication between patients, families, and medical staff.
  • Staff Development: Act as a mentor to clinical and support personnel, providing training, performance feedback, and guidance on complex issues in partnership with unit leadership.
  • Human Resource Involvement: Participate in the recruitment and selection of new team members, address employee concerns, and contribute to maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Staff Management: Oversee employee assignments and scheduling, ensuring adequate staffing levels to meet productivity goals.
  • Quality Assurance: Monitor the standard of care provided, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Resource Management: Contribute to budget discussions and ensure the availability of necessary supplies and equipment for safe patient care.
  • Program Development: Collaborate with management to enhance existing services and develop new programs.
  • Vendor Coordination: Work with suppliers for equipment needs and facilitate training sessions for new products.
Qualifications

Licenses & Certifications: Must possess a valid Registered Nurse license and obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within a specified timeframe.

Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is required.

Experience: A minimum of five years of clinical nursing experience in an acute care environment is typically expected.

Skills & Competencies

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a holistic approach to nursing, possess strong clinical knowledge, and exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in technology and the ability to make independent decisions are essential for success in this role.

Team members are expected to maintain annual educational requirements for hospital-based certifications.
