Position Overview

The Medical Office Assistant (MOA) plays a crucial role in delivering a range of clinical, administrative, and coordination services aimed at ensuring high-quality and efficient patient care within the Advocate/Aurora Clinics located at Walgreens. This position is ideal for individuals with backgrounds as Patient Service Representatives (PSR), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA), or Medical Assistants (MA) who are seeking a more independent and engaging role. Recent graduates in CNA or Medical Assistant programs are encouraged to apply.

Location: Advocate Walgreens Clinic

Work Schedule: Per diem / as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in clinical and administrative tasks for both remote and on-site Advanced Practice Clinicians at Advocate/Aurora Clinics.
  • Manage the patient registration process, including capturing patient demographics, processing insurance details, and scheduling appointments within the electronic medical record system.
  • Oversee waiting room operations and facilitate patient rooming procedures.
  • Conduct vital signs assessments and point-of-care testing for patients.
  • Maintain inventory of clinical and office supplies, ensuring timely orders as needed.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with colleagues, clinicians, Walgreens management, and leadership to enhance patient care delivery.
  • Ensure a safe, professional, and organized clinic environment.
  • Demonstrate the necessary knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care, understanding the principles of growth and development across the lifespan.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification is required within 21 days of hire.
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Experience: A minimum of one year of experience in a clinical or customer service setting is preferred.

Essential Skills and Abilities

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build rapport and maintain professional relationships with patients and team members.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including electronic medical records systems, typing, and navigating a Windows operating system.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Availability to work rotating weekends.
  • Potential travel between various care sites may be required.
  • Flexible working hours.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting supplies and moving equipment.
  • Hand dexterity is necessary for operating assessment devices and entering data into electronic medical records.
