Hours: Part Time - 15 hours per week, Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Schedule to be determined
Compensation: $19.50 per hour
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Position Summary:The Peer Specialist plays a crucial role in providing support and advocacy for youth within the program and the broader community. This position requires the individual to exemplify professional conduct, assist in organizing social skills initiatives, and serve as a mentor while offering peer support.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and implement events aimed at empowering and educating youth in the Youth Stand United program.
- Collaborate with the Case Manager and Vocational Coordinator to assist youth in achieving their educational and vocational objectives.
- Share valuable insights and experiences regarding available programs and resources that can enhance youth skills.
- Guide youth in fostering positive relationships with peers, family, and the community.
- Support the planning and execution of social, recreational, and educational activities for youth.
- Conduct outreach efforts to promote the program and boost enrollment.
- Engage with youth involved in the program to ensure their continued participation.
- Represent the youth, program, and organization at relevant gatherings focused on youth issues.
- Complete all required documentation promptly and professionally, adhering to program standards.
- Follow all organizational policies and procedures as necessary.
- Participate in agency-wide meetings and groups as required.
- Assist in the development of funding proposals when needed.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
A High School Diploma or GED/HSE is required; some college experience is preferred. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
The ideal candidate is a young adult with a solid understanding of emotional and behavioral challenges, as well as familiarity with mental health services and programs.
