Position Summary
WSP is currently seeking a full-time Senior Mining Engineer. The successful candidate will engage with our Mine Engineering & Stability Team, contributing to an expanding organization that aligns with client objectives and addresses their challenges.

Your Contributions
  • Act as the technical lead, executing strategic modeling, design, and engineering analysis, including interactive mine design and sequencing using various mine modeling software.
  • Perform a comprehensive range of mine engineering tasks, such as:
    • Detailed design of both open pit and underground mines
    • Engineering trade-off assessments
    • Cost estimation and economic analysis of various alternatives
    • Preparation of technical documentation, including public disclosure for Mineral Resources and Reserves
  • Support both engineering and geological project aspects as required.
  • Implement WSP's Project Management standards to oversee all project dimensions.
  • Collaborate with engineers and technical personnel to cultivate the skills and procedures necessary for effective engineering and consulting delivery.
  • Serve as an internal technical resource, offering guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities.
  • Guide staff to foster their professional growth and development.
  • Exercise ethical decision-making regarding company resources and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as dictated by business needs.
Candidate Profile
Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering or a closely related field.
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant post-education experience in engineering, focusing on open pit and/or underground mine planning, design, and scheduling.
  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Experience in a consulting role or technical services within a mining organization.
  • Proficient technical writing skills, with experience in drafting proposals and technical reports.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and strategic planning capabilities.
  • Experience with mine planning, design, and scheduling software such as MineScape, MineSight 3D, Vulcan, Surpac, Deswik, Datamine, Gemcom, Mine 2-4D, and EPS.
  • Effective communication skills, capable of conveying complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong self-leadership and interpersonal skills, able to engage effectively with clients, regulators, project managers, and colleagues at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to work independently while providing guidance to junior team members, ensuring adherence to QA/QC standards.
  • Experience in critically reviewing documents and preparing complex technical deliverables.
  • Developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills to apply technical knowledge effectively.
  • Ability to direct subcontractors and field personnel to ensure tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
  • Proven commitment to workplace safety and compliance with health, safety, and ethical policies.
  • Flexibility to work schedules that meet project-specific demands.
  • Willingness to travel as required for project needs.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Mining Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Professional Licensure/Certification.
