Patient Care Licensed Practical Nurse

Position Overview: The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) operates under the guidance of the Physician, Nurse Supervisor, and/or Practice/Office Manager. This role involves identifying patient needs and symptoms proactively. The LPN is responsible for delivering care as directed by the physician, which includes preparing patients for examinations, assisting during procedures, coordinating diagnostic tests, and ensuring appropriate follow-up care while meticulously documenting treatments in the medical records. The LPN also plays a crucial role in educating patients and their families. Demonstrating proficiency and skills to cater to patients across all age groups, including neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly, is essential. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed. It is expected that all LPNs maintain their licensure, possess relevant knowledge, and adhere to the nursing practices as stipulated by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, alongside implementing the Nursing Practice Standards and Code established by the National Federation of Licensed Practical Nurses, Inc. (NFLPN). As a vital member of the patient services team, the LPN is expected to advocate for the patient’s voice, adhere to system policies and procedures, and contribute to service excellence goals. Key Responsibilities:
- Professional Practice and Accountability: Uphold exemplary nursing practices in accordance with the Nursing Practice Standards and Code set forth by the NFLPN. Promote health through clinical care using evidence-based practices, analytical thinking, and individualized care coordination.
- Collaboration and Teamwork: Ensure the delivery and documentation of safe, high-quality patient care that supports a professional care delivery model. Engage in diverse interdisciplinary communication methods and maintain timely documentation while fostering a respectful and inclusive clinical environment.
- Professional Growth and Initiative: Complete all initial and ongoing competency assessments, mandatory education, and licensure requirements. Serve as a mentor for other practical nurses and unlicensed staff, ensuring a qualified workforce and a positive work environment.
- Evidence-Based Practice: Advocate for nursing research and performance improvement. Participate in shared decision-making groups and uphold all healthcare system policies and clinical competencies.
- Patient Advocacy: Deliver relationship-centered care that respects the unique characteristics of each patient. Collaborate with patients and their families to create a comfortable and safe care environment, focusing on their goals.
- Graduation from an accredited practical or vocational nursing program.
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse license in the State of Georgia.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required prior to hire.
- Previous healthcare experience preferred, particularly in ambulatory or outpatient settings.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with effective interpersonal communication abilities.
