About the Role

The National Immigration Law Center (NILC) is seeking a seasoned development professional to serve as its Vice President of Development. This is a critical leadership position that will play a key role in shaping the organization's fundraising strategy and securing the resources needed to advance its mission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy that meets and exceeds annual and long-term revenue goals for NILC and its affiliated organization, NILC Immigrant Justice Fund (IJF).
  • Lead a high-performing development team and provide strategic guidance on fundraising functions, including major gifts, institutional giving, and grassroots fundraising.
  • Build and manage a portfolio of 50+ major donors and prospects, cultivating and stewarding meaningful relationships with current and future donors.
  • Collaborate closely with the Executive Leadership Team, Board of Directors, and other stakeholders to advance NILC's priorities and secure funding for key initiatives.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase donor engagement, retention, and giving levels, including donor stewardship, recognition, and communication.
  • Work closely with the Communications team to develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy that supports fundraising efforts and advances NILC's mission.
  • Manage and analyze fundraising data to inform strategy and ensure effective use of resources.
  • Represent NILC and IJF in external networks and alliances, attending events and meetings as needed.
Requirements
  • 12+ years of relevant work experience in development and fundraising, with at least 6 years of management/leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and execute a development strategy and work collaboratively in a mission-driven, culturally diverse organization committed to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Proven track record of securing major gifts and institutional funding, with a strong network of donors and relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with donors, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work in a unionized environment and manage staff in a collaborative and inclusive manner.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree or other advanced degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience working in a nonprofit organization with budgets of $20 million+.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and donor databases/Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
What We Offer

NILC offers a competitive salary range of $154,900 - $193,600, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
