Position Summary

As a Mechanical Engineer II, you will take the lead in designing and developing exhaust systems for motorcycles, trucks, SXS, and UTVs. Your role will involve significant contributions to the design, development, validation, and production launch of innovative exhaust solutions across multiple transportation sectors. You will follow our established Product Development Process to ensure successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and engineer exhaust system components and assemblies.
  • Conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and engineering calculations to assess function, strength, and durability.
  • Implement Design For Manufacturing (DFM) principles in product development.
  • Research and propose design solutions for various projects.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in exhaust products relevant to our markets.
  • Create detailed drawings, specifications, and manufacturing instructions.
  • Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) standards and perform statistical tolerance analysis.
  • Manage projects using a structured stage-gate process.
  • Oversee Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) for continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare and deliver launch and gate reports to management.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams on new product initiatives.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective measures as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical design.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling and parametric design, preferably using Solidworks.
  • Experience in developing engineering calculations and FEA for product performance assessment.
  • In-depth knowledge of automotive and motorsports chassis components.
  • Hands-on experience with motorcycle and automotive tools and equipment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with ASME Y GD&T and/or ISO GPS standards.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience with product launches.
  • Knowledge of coating and plating technologies.
  • Familiarity with exhaust manufacturing processes.
  • Experience in vendor management and joint development projects.
  • Background in the powersports industry.
  • Understanding of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
