Position Summary

As a proactive Mechanical Engineer, you will spearhead the design and development of exhaust systems for motorcycles, trucks, SXS, and UTVs. Your role will be pivotal in driving innovative solutions through our established product development framework. Daily responsibilities will encompass exhaust component design, engineering assessments, testing, supplier collaboration, and project oversight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and engineer exhaust system components and assemblies
  • Conduct FEA and engineering calculations to ensure functionality and durability
  • Implement Design For Manufacturing/Assembly (DFM/A) principles
  • Research and develop design proposals for various projects
  • Stay updated on industry advancements related to exhaust products
  • Create detailed drawings, specifications, and documentation
  • Apply GD+T standards and perform statistical tolerance analysis
  • Manage projects using a structured stage-gate methodology
  • Oversee Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) for continuous improvement initiatives
  • Prepare and deliver project launch and gate reports
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing on new product initiatives
  • Conduct root cause analyses and implement corrective measures

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field

Essential Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of experience in mechanical design
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling and parametric design, preferably using Solidworks
  • Experience in developing engineering calculations and FEA for product performance
  • Comprehensive understanding of automotive/motorsports and chassis components
  • Hands-on experience with motorcycle and automotive tools and equipment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Capability to work independently or collaboratively within a team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with ASME Y GD&T and/or ISO GPS standards
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience with product launches
  • Knowledge of coating and plating technologies (e-coat, powder coat, chrome, anodize)
  • Familiarity with exhaust manufacturing processes (tube bending, CNC machining, welding, etc.)
  • 4+ years of experience in vendor management and joint development
  • 4+ years of experience in the powersports industry
  • Understanding of Lean/Six Sigma methodologies
