Your Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Design Engineer II, you will take a hands-on approach in developing exhaust systems for motorcycles, trucks, SXS, and UTVs. Your role will involve:

  • Designing and engineering exhaust system components and assemblies.
  • Conducting finite element analysis (FEA) and engineering calculations to ensure functionality, strength, and durability.
  • Implementing Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles.
  • Researching and proposing innovative design solutions for various projects.
  • Staying updated with the latest advancements in exhaust products across relevant markets.
  • Producing detailed drawings, specifications, and instructions.
  • Applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) standards and performing statistical tolerance analysis.
  • Managing projects through a structured stage-gate process.
  • Overseeing Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) for continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Preparing and presenting project launch and gate reports to management.
  • Collaborating with sales and marketing teams on new product initiatives.
  • Conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective measures.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

Required Skills:

  • At least 3 years of experience in mechanical design.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling and parametric design, preferably using Solidworks.
  • Experience in developing engineering calculations and FEA for product performance and durability.
  • In-depth knowledge of automotive and motorsports components.
  • Hands-on experience with tools and equipment in the motorcycle or automotive sector.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience applying ASME Y GD&T (or ISO GPS) standards in design.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Skills:

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience with product launches.
  • Familiarity with coating and plating technologies (e-coat, powder coat, chrome, anodize).
  • Knowledge of exhaust manufacturing processes (tube bending, CNC machining, welding, etc.).
  • 4+ years of experience in vendor management and joint development.
  • Experience in the powersports industry.
  • Understanding of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
