We are in search of a dedicated and versatile environmental expert to spearhead substantial and sustainable advancements in environmental management and performance at our facilities. This role presents a unique chance to create significant impact within an organization dedicated to progress. As the Environmental Sustainability Manager, you will oversee and manage the facility's Environmental Management System (EMS), ensuring compliance and driving progress towards our sustainability objectives. You will act as the facility's environmental consultant, change leader, and specialist. This position demands a multifaceted skill set, including strategic planning, innovative problem-solving, data analysis, reporting, and team development. We seek an insightful, organized, and data-driven relationship builder with a solid understanding of environmental compliance and sustainability, along with technical expertise in manufacturing systems.

Your Contributions Will Be Vital In:

As the Environmental Sustainability Manager, you will implement Saputo's Environmental Management System at the facility to achieve our environmental goals. This hands-on role requires close collaboration with various teams across the plant, including operations, maintenance, sanitation, sustainability, and compliance.

  • Assess the facility's objectives, identify focus areas, and develop strategic plans to meet established goals.
  • Execute these plans directly and indirectly by engaging and guiding key personnel at the site.
  • Advocate for the necessary resources to implement the EMS, enhance EMS-related capabilities through tools and training, and communicate the facility's environmental progress to key stakeholders.
  • Monitor and evaluate the facility's environmental KPIs to ensure the effectiveness of plans and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Promote and facilitate actions for continuous environmental performance enhancement.
While this role emphasizes comprehensive environmental management across compliance and sustainability, there will be a significant focus on enhancing capabilities and driving performance improvements specifically related to environmental sustainability.

Ideal Candidates Will Possess:
  • A bachelor's degree in environmental science, Environmental Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Experience in the dairy industry is advantageous.
  • Professional experience in environmental roles, particularly in:
    • Implementing and auditing environmental management systems.
    • Establishing effective resource conservation programs (climate/water/waste) in a manufacturing context.
    • Collecting and analyzing KPIs for reporting and generating actionable insights.
    • Project management.
  • Technical skills for assessing and optimizing utility systems (steam, compressed air, refrigeration, etc.), including the ability to calculate performance improvements and associated savings.
  • Familiarity with relevant ISO standards, including the 14000 and 50000 series.
  • Knowledge of PLCs, process instrumentation, and process diagrams.
  • Understanding of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and standards.
  • Relevant professional certifications such as AEE's Certified Energy Manager or ASHRAE's Building Energy Assessment Professional are a plus.
  • Familiarity with programs like EPA Energy Star and DOE Better Plants is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical skills: capable of dissecting complex issues into manageable components using data, analysis, assumptions, and judgment.
  • Excellent communication skills: able to read, analyze, and interpret business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Proficient in writing reports, procedures, business correspondence, and manuals. Capable of effectively presenting information and responding to inquiries from groups of managers, clients, employees, and the public.
  • Proficient computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) with strong data modeling and analytics capabilities.
