Financial Accountant for Captive Insurance

Company Overview: Strategic Risk Solutions Inc. (SRS) is recognized as the leading independent manager of insurance companies globally. We are currently expanding our team and are in search of a skilled accounting professional to enhance our US West Captive Management servicing division.

Position Summary: As a Financial Accountant, you will be instrumental in overseeing the financial and compliance aspects of a diverse portfolio of captive insurance entities. This role is designed for both recent graduates and seasoned accountants who possess a strong commitment to accuracy, financial integrity, and exceptional client service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with a dedicated client account team to produce high-quality financial and compliance reports.
  • Manage and reconcile the General Ledger.
  • Prepare and conduct peer reviews of monthly and quarterly financial statements.
  • Prepare and submit premium tax returns.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of regulatory submissions.
  • Engage in daily verbal and written communications with clients.
  • Oversee client financial audits.
  • Prepare for and participate in client Board of Director meetings.
  • Coordinate with clients, third-party service providers, and state regulators.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is required; CPA designation is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • A minimum of 2 years of financial accounting experience in either public or private sectors; direct experience in captive management is a plus; internships may be considered for entry-level candidates.
  • Preferred experience in insurance accounting and auditing; commercial or public accounting experience will also be considered.
  • Proficiency in Excel and financial accounting/general ledger software.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team or independently on assigned tasks, with a strong emphasis on attention to detail and prioritization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel domestically up to 5% as required.
