Position Overview:

We are in search of a dedicated and skilled Commercial Underwriter to enhance our underwriting division. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three years' experience in underwriting substantial property accounts, along with a robust grasp of commercial underwriting principles. In this role, you will be tasked with assessing and underwriting commercial insurance applications specifically for large property accounts.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Assess and underwrite commercial insurance applications for large property accounts, adhering to established underwriting protocols and standards.
  • Analyze and interpret relevant data to identify risks and potential exposures.
  • Determine suitable coverage options and pricing for each policy.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with brokers and clients to ensure exceptional service and satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with fellow underwriting team members and other departments to meet organizational goals.
  • Monitor account performance and provide recommendations for enhancements or modifications as necessary.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Engage in marketing and sales meetings within designated territories.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Risk Management, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of three years' experience in commercial underwriting, particularly with large property accounts.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficient in managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Familiarity with underwriting software and systems.

For candidates assigned to work in California, Starr Insurance Companies is mandated by law to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position. The estimated wage range for this role is between $90,000 and $140,000, taking into account various factors such as skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and organizational needs.
