Position Overview

As a vital member of our E&S team, you will play a key role in the production, underwriting, and retention of profitable E&S business by nurturing and maintaining broker relationships.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Underwrite, market, quote, bind, and retain a profitable portfolio of excess and surplus lines business that aligns with profitability and growth objectives. Operate within the authority granted and allocated catastrophe budgets, making referrals to underwriting leadership as necessary.
  • Develop and implement production strategies and business plans to achieve growth objectives and rate targets. Collaboration with other Munich Re business units is encouraged to provide comprehensive solutions to our clients.
  • Assess and enhance portfolio performance by analyzing underwriting data and monitoring industry best practices to identify continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Build and sustain professional relationships with wholesale brokers.
  • Represent the Munich Re brand and Munich Re Specialty Insurance at industry events, seminars, and meetings.
  • Assist in daily operations and projects as assigned, which may impact clients, business groups, divisions, and corporate objectives.
Qualifications:
  • Strong underwriting, marketing, and analytical skills developed over 5+ years in insurance and/or reinsurance, with production underwriting experience ideally at an E&S carrier for Property lines.
  • Advanced insurance certifications (e.g., CPCU) are preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of Commercial P&C / E&S products, insurance concepts, underwriting processes, and relevant laws and regulations.
  • Familiarity with catastrophe models, including RMS.
  • Proven track record of establishing and maintaining strong relationships with wholesale brokers.
  • Technological proficiency and a willingness to explore and adopt new technologies.
  • Strategic thinking combined with tactical execution capabilities.
  • Exceptional communication skills that engage and inspire brokers, clients, and colleagues, with the ability to convey a vision and client-focused solutions.
  • Ability to negotiate and present complex agreements with brokers.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
Compensation and Benefits:

The anticipated salary range for this position is $110,500 - $162,000, plus the opportunity for a company bonus based on a percentage of eligible pay. Additionally, the company offers a variety of employee benefits, including health insurance, wellness programs, life and disability insurance, 401k matching, retirement savings plans, paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO).
