Position Overview

As a vital member of our E&S team, you will play a key role in the production, underwriting, and retention of profitable excess and surplus lines business. This will involve nurturing and maintaining relationships with brokers to drive business success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Underwrite, market, quote, bind, and retain a profitable portfolio of excess and surplus lines business that aligns with profitability and growth objectives. Operate within granted authority and allocated catastrophe budgets, making referrals to underwriting leadership as necessary.
  • Develop and implement production strategies and business plans to achieve growth targets and rate goals. Collaborate with other Munich Re business units to provide comprehensive solutions to clients.
  • Analyze underwriting data and monitor industry best practices to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and optimize portfolio performance.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with wholesale brokers.
  • Represent the Munich Re brand at client events, seminars, and meetings.
  • Assist in day-to-day operations and projects as assigned, which may impact clients, business groups, divisions, and corporate objectives.
Qualifications:
  • Proven underwriting, marketing, and analytical skills developed over 5+ years in insurance and/or reinsurance, with production underwriting experience ideally at an E&S carrier for property lines.
  • Advanced insurance certifications (e.g., CPCU) are preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of Commercial P&C / E&S products, insurance concepts, underwriting processes, and relevant industry trends.
  • Familiarity with catastrophe models, including RMS.
  • Demonstrated success in building and maintaining strong relationships with wholesale brokers.
  • Proficiency in technology and a willingness to embrace new tools and innovations.
  • Strategic thinker with tactical execution capabilities.
  • Exceptional communication skills that engage brokers, clients, and colleagues, along with the ability to convey client-focused solutions.
  • Capability to present and negotiate complex agreements with brokers.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
Compensation and Benefits:

The anticipated salary range for this position is $110,500 - $162,000, with additional opportunities for company bonuses based on eligible pay. The company also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, wellness programs, life and disability insurance, 401k matching, retirement savings plans, paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO).
