The Role

As an integral member of our E&S team, you will play a crucial role in the production, underwriting, and retention of profitable excess and surplus lines business. Your responsibilities will include fostering and maintaining strong relationships with brokers to ensure sustainable growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Underwrite, market, quote, bind, and retain a profitable portfolio of excess and surplus lines business, ensuring alignment with profitability and growth objectives.
  • Develop and implement production strategies and business plans to achieve growth targets and rate goals, while collaborating with other Munich Re business units for holistic client solutions.
  • Analyze underwriting data and industry best practices to measure and optimize portfolio performance, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Build and sustain professional relationships with wholesale brokers to enhance business opportunities.
  • Represent the Munich Re brand at various client events, seminars, and meetings.
  • Assist in daily operations and projects that may impact clients and the broader business group.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in insurance and/or reinsurance, with a focus on production underwriting in the E&S sector, particularly for property lines.
  • Preferred advanced insurance certifications (e.g., CPCU).
  • Strong understanding of Commercial P&C / E&S products, underwriting processes, and relevant industry regulations.
  • Familiarity with catastrophe models, including RMS.
  • Proven ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with wholesale brokers.
  • Proficient in technology and open to exploring new tools and solutions.
  • Strategic thinker with strong tactical execution capabilities.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of engaging brokers, clients, and colleagues effectively.
  • Ability to negotiate complex agreements with brokers.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
Compensation and Benefits:

The anticipated salary range for this position is $110,500 - $162,000, along with opportunities for performance-based bonuses. Our comprehensive benefits package includes health insurance, wellness programs, life and disability insurance, a 401k match, retirement savings plans, paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO).
