Position Summary:
BHSI is seeking a knowledgeable Property Underwriter to join our dynamic team. This role involves cultivating business through various distribution channels, assessing accounts, and applying underwriting expertise to select property risks that align with our company's risk appetite. The successful candidate will be instrumental in expanding our business through proactive engagement with brokers and clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and enhance the property insurance portfolio, including both primary and excess layers.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients.
- Identify and assess new business opportunities.
- Operate effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks while upholding underwriting standards.
- Evaluate Fire and CAT exposures for underwriting purposes.
Qualifications and Skills:
- 3-5 years of experience in property insurance.
- Established relationships with brokers, particularly within the retail brokerage sector.
- Strong underwriting skills and knowledge.
- Familiarity with policy forms and broker manuscripts.
- Demonstrated experience in managing customer relationships.
- Understanding of CAT peril modeling and pricing.
- Excellent collaboration and team-building abilities.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
- Strong communication skills, including negotiation and presentation capabilities.
