Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sales Representative - Parts and Service to join our team at Stewart & Stevenson. As a key member of our sales team, you will be responsible for effectively selling parts and services to our customers, while also achieving maximum sales profitability and growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Generate New Business Opportunities: Identify and pursue new customer accounts, as well as service and maintain existing relationships to drive sales growth.
  • Analyze Customer Needs: Understand customer requirements and interests to determine how our products and services can best meet their needs.
  • Achieve Sales Goals: Meet or exceed established sales targets and forecasts, while also assisting in the marketing and sale of new products and/or prototypes.
  • Interface with Cross-Functional Teams: Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, production, and purchasing teams to ensure timely delivery of finished products and meet project specifications and deadlines.
  • Monitor Sales Orders: Ensure that project costs, materials lists, and delivery schedules meet project specifications and deadlines.
  • Prepare and Submit Bids: Compute installation or production costs and prepare and submit bid specifications to existing and potential customers for review.
  • Negotiate Proposals and Contracts: Negotiate proposals and sales and service contracts with customers.
  • Establish and Maintain Relationships: Develop and maintain strong business, social, and networking relationships with individuals within the petroleum industry to generate and maintain a positive business image for the organization.
  • Plan and Organize Sales Strategy: Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve sales goals and objectives.
  • Expedite Customer Issues: Resolve customer problems, issues, or complaints in a timely and effective manner.
  • Provide Market Information: Stay up-to-date on current market conditions, business trends, and industry developments to provide direction and information on our products and related services.
  • Demonstrate and Explain Products: Demonstrate and explain the use of installed equipment and production processes to customers.
  • Recommend Solutions: Recommend solutions to product-related problems and arrange for installation and test-operation of machinery.
  • Evaluate Sales Performance: Evaluate sales performance results and provide management with oral and written reports on customer needs, problems, interests, market situation, competitive activities, and potential for new products/services.
  • Conduct Business Transactions: Conduct all business transactions in an ethical manner.

Education and Experience

High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) and three to seven years related experience.

Computer Skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook). Prior experience with Oracle preferred.

Other Requirements
  • Presentation Skills: Ability to build strong presentations for customers and present them in a clear and concise manner. Must follow company pricing guidelines and procedures.
  • Personal Protective Equipment: Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by the position, location, and/or customer.
Working Conditions

Office environment, on-site at customers place of business, and occasional shop/manufacturing environment exposure.

Compensation

Salary is $42,500.00 plus 8% commission on gross profit for parts and service, this position will also include $650.00 car allowance.

As part of your sales role, you are eligible to participate in the On Highway Sales Commission Plan. You will be placed on a commission guarantee for 6 months and each month you will receive a guaranteed commission of $2,500. If in any month, you exceed the guarantee in payable commission, you will receive your commission amount. Should your commission for a given month be less than the guarantee, you will still receive the guarantee amount for that month.
