Job Overview

Basic Function:
Under the supervision of the Billing Supervisor, this role is responsible for managing denials and aging reports related to insurance, as well as handling billing inquiries.


Working Relationships:
Reports to: Revenue Cycle Manager
Supervises: None


Internal and External Relationships:
As a representative of Bluegrass Orthopaedics, all interactions should reflect a commitment to quality service. Engagement with patients, families, physicians, referral services, visitors, volunteers, coworkers, supervisors, and vendors must be conducted in a friendly, supportive, and professional manner to foster teamwork and enhance patient care.


Position Requirements:
Licenses or Certificates: None specified.
Education and Experience:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  2. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  3. Familiarity with medical terminology is preferred.
  4. Two years of billing experience in a healthcare environment is advantageous.
  5. Proficient computer skills are necessary.
  6. Legible handwriting is essential.

  1. Efficiently performs billing and mailing tasks.
  2. Conducts clerical duties in accordance with established guidelines.
  3. Exhibits the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
  4. Demonstrates accountability in role responsibilities.
  5. Acts as a professional role model.
  6. Ensures patient safety by adhering to procedural guidelines.
  7. Completes additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Job Knowledge:

  1. Possesses the necessary knowledge and skills for the position.
  2. Participates in all relevant training and development workshops.
  3. Keeps work area and equipment organized.
  4. Maintains professional appearance in accordance with company standards.
  5. Exhibits courteous and cooperative behavior.
  6. Completes all other assigned tasks.

  2. Operates equipment safely and reports any unsafe conditions.

Service Satisfaction:

  1. Communicates effectively regarding job responsibilities.

Attendance:

  1. Adheres to company attendance policies.
  2. Maintains attendance in accordance with established guidelines.
  3. Notifies appropriate personnel for unscheduled absences.
  4. Requests scheduled time off following procedures.

Equipment Used: Telephone, computers, copiers, facsimile machines, credit card machines, etc.


Environmental Conditions: Indoor work in a climate-controlled setting with occasional exposure to various hazards.


Physical Requirements: Good visual acuity, ability to communicate effectively, and capability to lift and carry over 25 pounds, requiring a full range of motion.


Degree of Supervision: Minimal supervision; must be self-directed and capable of independent work.
